What to Focus On When Life’s Tough

A few years ago I began learning a Taoist Kung fu form that is over 2000 years oldĀ  – and until recently was only passed on to a single person per generation.

As you can imagine, this form has been kept secret because its power could be easily misused or abused.

Learning this form forced me to develop my body-mind in a uniquely powerful way – and the practice translated to skills I never had before.

Training was daily; not two or three times per week. Each day my mistakes were pointed out so I could improve. Each day I followed the 55-year old Chinese master who began to learn this form when he was eight. He’s still practicing it because of how DEEP it is. There’s an infinite ocean of energy contained within this practice.

As I look at the training I’ve done as well as what lies ahead I realize the path never ends. There is always something more to learn. And it’s tough. Sometimes you think you might not ever make it.

Whenever a thought like this comes to mind, I glimpse at the practice that lies before me.

And if I wonder how long it will take to get to the next level – I strike those thoughts. They are not relevant now.

All that truly matters is the form I’m practicing today; right now. All that matters is my next breath; my next move; my next mistake to correct.

Why am I telling you this? Because I know that being on a journey is most important in this life. And while on the journey the most important elements are your next breath, your intention and your posture.

Reaching goals is important – but the real juice in life is contained in those moments when you look into each and every moment and feel the power of your breath and your intention bubbling up from within.

Kung Fu (gong fu) means daily discipline or practice. So it’s no surprise that if you have the mindset of daily discipline you can transport it to any other area of your life.

In my particular case I’ve chosen to transport my daily fitness and martial arts habits into creating info products like Combat Conditioning. I’ve also chosen to coach others, to write newsletters and create DVDs and CDs.

In the beginning I made many mistakes, just as I do when practicing martial arts. But over time I got pretty doggone good and this led to me helping even more people

You can read all about this part of my journey in my new book and program, How to Turn Your Black Belt into a Gold Mine.

I think you’ll be amazed with what you’ll discover and how you already possess knowledge that can and will change other peoples’ lives for the better.

Go read about it now.

Best,

Matt Furey
