Dream Visit for American in Beijing

Last night I met with, Greg Fleisner, a long-time Matt Furey Inner Circle member who teaches English here in Beijing. He’s been living here for over a year and loved my blog on freedom in China. He sent an email to our fulfillment house, run by Carol Brown, stating his desire to meet with me, if possible. She forwarded it on to me.

I considered the matter deeply whilst reading Greg’s email and because I could sense a good vibe coming from him, I agreed to meet with him at 6 PM. After I extended the invitation he showed at my hotel with his Chinese friend, Maggie. We quickly ordered watermelon juice and began talking. 90 minutes later, after much talk about tai chi, chi kung, nei gong and so on, I realized I was getting hungry, so we moved to the buffet and continued talking.

As I was drinking yet another watermelon juice, Maggie said: “I have a question for you. I want to know why you like watermelon so much.”

I nodded and gave no answer. She didn’t ask again.

One of the reasons is simple and I’ve told it to MFIC’ers for some time. Watermelon is loaded with Lycopene. Good for the prostate. Puts lead in the pencil. Naturally, there are other reasons, but the most important one, for men, is enough reason. Agreed?

Around 9 PM I noted the open back pack sitting next to Maggie. Inside was a copy of Combat Conditioning. Naturally, it was unsigned as I rarely autograph books. Only at special events or seminars. Well, our meeting was a special event, so I said: “Would you like some ink from me on your copy?”

“I’d love that,” said Greg, as he whipped out a red Sharpie.

“I think this pen is better,” said Maggie, who held out a black Bic pen.

“Unnnh,” I grunted.

“I don’t think so,” said Greg.

I grabbed the lucky red Sharpie and wrote a brief message to Greg. Then I tore a blank page from my journal and scribbled a note to Maggie. She liked it so much she placed it inside the book.

Then, as Greg was continually bragging about Maggie’s ma bu (horse stance) we persuaded her to demonstrate. Right in the middle of the restaurant she got up, with much urging, and sat in this stance. Being a ham I jumped into the lime light as well – thrust one leg upward and dropped into a one-legged horse stance.

After this I said: “Can you do a 1-arm Hindu pushup?”

“That’s not possible,” said Maggie.

Greg laughed, knowing it most certainly was.

So I dropped to the floor and did a 1-arm Hindu pushup.

“Oh my gawd,” said Maggie.

“This is the sort of thing you can work up to when you follow my program. Don’t just do yoga. That’s good – but never forget that the yoga came from Indian wrestlers. They stole it from us wrestlers,” I joked.

“Not stole, Copied,” said Maggie.

Greg said: “Copied? Everything is copied.”

I laughed.

At 9:30 we called it a night. Twas a great visit. Superb energy.

As I travel around the world I look forward to meeting more and more Matt Furey Inner Circle members. Make sure you’re one of them. The perks for being a member are HUGE and they’re expiring soon. Jump in NOW while the free offers are still good.
