There’s Magic In This

People often wonder how I have been able to achieve in

so many areas of my life.

First as a swimmer. Then as a wrestler. Then as a personal

fitness trainer. Then as a martial artist. And then as a

writer, entrepreneur, speaker, etcetera.

Those who wonder would also like to know how they can

have the same sort of results in their lives.

Well, the formula for success is quite simple – yet no matter

how simple – only 3% of the population will do it – regardless

of all the evidence and proof given throughout the ages by

the most successful men and women who have ever lived.

Why would such a small percentage follow the formula. Is it

that they want to live lives of quiet desperation.

I don’t think so.

I think the reason so few follow the formula is because they

would rather conform to the norm than be the unique person

they were created to be.

Conformity is the curse of mankind. Find out what the masses

are doing, then follow them.

But the masses don’t have the answers – on virtually any

subject under heaven.

I’ve made it a point to follow WINNERS and ignore losers.

I don’t take advice from people who are not winning in the

game of life. I don’t take advice from people who know less

than I do on a subject.

If I want to become a champion athlete – I find the champion

coach. I don’t find the coach who knows less than I do – I find

the guy who knows more.

On the internet, I don’t work with people who don’t know anything

about it. If I want a webpage built, I get the best guy to do it for

me.

In short, I surround myself with people I can learn from. And

when I’m around them, I am remarkably quiet. I realize that

I have four holes in my head that absorb information – and one

in which to give it.

I believe that people who want to be successful could accelerate

the process tremendously if they’d shut up and listen. And by

listening I mean opening your eyes and your ears – closing your

mouth and absorbing all you can.

This is a fairly simple procedure – yet you’d be surprised how many

people won’t follow it.

As a coach, mentor, speaker and so on – I am paid to give advice.

I get paid by the thought. And I put my thoughts into both written

and spoken form.

But when the time ticker shuts off – you’d be astounded if you saw

how little I say. People are often stunned to discover that the person

they viewed as a “loudmouth” is often remarkably quiet and reserved.

Yes, I do talk to others. Yes, sometimes I talk too much – but more

often than not – I’m listening, asking questions and taking mental –

and/or written notes while someone is speaking.

Yes, I have goals I want to achieve – but one of them is NOT showing

people how smart or clever or educated I am. I have no desire to prove

what I know – how much I know – or anything of the sort. I do have the

desire to help others grow with the knowledge I have – but ONLY if they

ask for it or want it. Someone could spend weeks with me – and if they

don’t ask me any questions, it’s quite likely I won’t give them any

answers.

My wife often tells me that I’m more Chinese than the Chinese. I take

that as a compliment. And she means it as one.

I spend time each day reading the thoughts of other great men who

passed this way before – as well as listening to what they have to say.

And as you know, Dr. Maxwell Maltz is a personal favorite. Yesterday

I sent you a link where you could listen to a video clip of him for

no charge. Today I’m sending it to you again. And when you listen to

him – really really listen. Turn off the buffers. Turn off the “I know this

and I know that” filters. Turn off the “Notice how he does this or does

that” filter.

Be still and listen. And as you listen – take notes. Then do what he

asks you to do.

Go to http://www.mattfureydownloads.com/video/maltz.html right

NOW and see what the giant passed on to us.

Best,
