You’ve Got More in You
Whenever you think you’ve given every
thing you’ve got – think again.
Almost always, you’ve got more inside of
you – and you’ve refused to use it.
No thing and no one was stopping you from
achieving your goal – other than this person
called “yourself.”
And no one is ever going to “help” you achieve
what you want – other than yourself.
I coach people; I guide them and mentor them –
I show people where the oasis is. But the student
must be someone other than a mule if he or she is
ever going to succeed with what I teach.
I have coaches and mentors, too. And if you were
to ask them about me, they would tell you that I’m
open-minded and coachable. They’d tell you that
I listen to what I’m advised and that I do it. Not
every time. But most of the time.
You’d be surprised to know how many people will
pay a personal trainer a fee, and expect magic to
happen. Yet, the student won’t listen to any of the
advice given. The student pays the teacher so he
can tell you how smart he is.
Very dumb, indeed.
You’ve heard the saying, “You can lead a horse to
water but you can’t make him drink.”
It’s the wrong way to view the truth of the situation –
if you ask me. Most people aren’t horses being led
to water. They’re mules who don’t even want to see
the water, much less drink it or swim in it.
Sadly, without a coach, they have no chance at all.
They’re sheep leading themselves to the slaughter.
Oftentimes the very people who come to you for help
will resist you at the same time. That’s why I never
respond to emails in which the person screams
the word HELP in the subject line.
I learned a long time ago you cannot help anyone
until he or she is truly asking for help and truly
wants it. And if the person isn’t willing to pay for
the help, then the chances of success are practically
zip.
The other day I received an email from someone who
read a book I recommended. He said, “That book didn’t
do anything for me.”
The person has it all backwards. I’ve never read a book
thinking the book was going to do it for me. I read in
order to learn, to grow, to keep my mind buzzing with
fresh ideas and insights.
When it comes to fitness, I can’t imagine reading an
exercise book and expecting the book to get me into
shape. Yet, some people think this way. They buy books
and DVDs, then they don’t follow the instructions. Then
instead of looking in the mirror at who created the
abomination of a body they have, they look elsewhere.
Don’t be like that.
Open your mind. You’ve got more in you than you know.
If you’ll take time to imagine being who you really want to
be, and if you do this everyday – followed by being willing
to do whatever it takes to succeed – there is just no way
you cannot move closer to what you want.
Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get fit.
That’s the question.
If the answer is yes, come along with me and I’ll show you
how to ….
