Exercises that Age Your Body Faster

Wednesday, September 10th, 2014

25 years ago, I read a non-western point of view about exercise that I’d never heard before.

The point of view seemed completely and totally untrue, implausible and biased.

To summarize, exercises like running and weight training – as well as all sports, cause you to age faster.

Can’t be true, I thought. There’s just no way that making your body physically fit can cause you to age faster. After all, what happens to a body that never gets any exercise?

It atrophies and ages faster than can be imagined.

If you’ve ever been in a cast for a few weeks, you know what your arm or leg looks like when it’s freed.

Not good.

Over the years I’ve pondered this notion of aging again and again. And I’ve come to a number of conclusions.

To me, it’s not so much that most exercises or sports age you faster. It’s the simple fact that most people are continually adding tension to their mind-body on a daily basis. And this tension causes blockages in the flow of energy in your body. These blockages then lead to pain, injury or disease.

Now, what do most forms of exercise ask you to do?

Answer: Add tension.

From my own experience and the experience of those whom I’ve trained in recent years, they will gladly tell you that this build-up of tension gradually causes your body to wear out faster.

Believe me now and listen to me later, you can find plenty of martial arts masters who need new hips by the age of 40. The same goes for elite wrestlers.

That’s a little young, don’t you think?

If you’ve been around former football players – many of them are physical wreaks. One of my good friends was hobbling around on bad hips in his mid-20’s. Plenty of other former football players aren’t doing so well mentally, either. All the helmet-to-helmet crashes don’t do much for your memory, that’s for sure.

As for those who lift weights, they’ve often touted the idea that bigger and stronger muscles mean reduced chance of injury.

Not so fast, Sonny. Ever take a look at the injury reports in the NFL, MLB, NBA and so on? At the professional level, you’re supposed to be the biggest, strongest, fastest – most ELITE of them all – and yet, breakdowns are happening all over the field – in practice as well as games.

Think about this for a second. When you train with weights you intentionally shorten your muscles (the tendons shorten, too)  – and whether you realize it or not – the “pump” you seek is tension that makes you less mobile. It also ages you faster.

So how on earth can this tension, as well as this shortening lead to an injury-proof body or a body that is less likely to get injured?

It cannot.

Now, unlike years ago, I will no longer say that you should never lift weights. I think weights have a time and place. I also believe there is a way to train with them that can be helpful, provided you know how to release the tension and lengthen the shortened muscles/tendons through other means.

But you’re not seeing that in the strength whirld.

On the other hand, the exercises I teach, increase your strength without increasing tension. They lengthen your muscles and tendons – giving you MORE flexibility and greater access to your athleticism.

Do they guarantee a life that is longer than someone who trains another way?

Guarantee?

I don’t think so. You cannot guarantee the length of someone’s life.

But what you can come much closer to is the ideal of defying the aging process.

“Defying the aging process.”

Yes, that’s what I’m all about.

And that’s what I’m prepared to teach you over the next 12 months (and beyond), with your membership in the Matt Furey Inner Circle.

Right now, you can become a member for a ridiculously low amount. Each of the 17 “downloads” I have planned for you over the next year are easily worth the fee to be a member. This means I will easily exceed the value of the program by more than 12X.

And, because there are already a TON of books, special reports, videos and audio on the site that you can begin downloading immediately – you’re already getting a massive value.

The fee to become a member also includes a free pass to one of my forthcoming longevity seminars. But that offer is not available forever. Make sure you enroll now to ensure you get this bonus as well.

Jump on board NOW, my friend. And start working toward the ideal of a timesless and ageless body.

Yours,

Matt “Coach” Furey

P.S. Looking forward to helping you become “The Fittest You’ve Ever Been, NOW.”

Are You Neglecting this Body Part?

Tuesday, September 9th, 2014

This morning I was up before the sun rose, out in nature, taking in fresh air and quietude.

Once I felt grounded and focused, I began to work on my neck – doing a series of 9 exercises that get your brain, body and nervous system functioning at a high level.

By the way, if you’re into “mind power” as well as improved functioning of your brain – I highly recommend you begin training your neck on a daily basis.

Previously, the only way I taught my students to train their necks was the bridging exercises in Combat Conditioning. And it’s still a valid way to train your neck. I still bridge and teach it to my clients.

At the same time, I now START my day with neck exercises that I learned in China several years ago.

When I first learned them I compared them to bridging and discounted them.

That was a big mistake because this series of neck exercises is not just about building a bigger, stronger neck.

These neck exercises are part of a longevity training program.

Longevity?

Yes, you got that right.

Here’s the story: In China, the tortoise is revered because it lives such a long life.

And why does it live so long?

Well, the Chinese say the tortoise lives a long life because it’s always moving its neck.

Let’s consider the above statement for a second and apply it to the human body.

Is there anything from the ‘neck up’ that is ‘sort of’ important to our health and well being?

Duh.

Okay, tell me what’s so important.

The thyroid, pineal and pituituary glands for starters. These have a lot to do with hormone secretions for the entire endocrine system – including metabolism, sleep, creativity and higher awareness. Then there’s the brain stem – which is more than a little important. And of course, there’s the brain itself.

Alright, in addition to the tortoise moving his neck – there are three other things about the tortoise that are significant to living
a long life.

First, the tortoise moves slowly. He is not frantically hurrying everywhere he goes.

Second, the tortoise takes time to practice stillness.

Third, the tortoise has protection. If another creature attacks, the tortoise can retreat into his shell and hang out until the attack subsides.

Last weekend, when I conducted a private training with my Chi Kung group, we began each day with long-life neck exercises that are done slowly while focusing on your breathing.

The results were off the chain.

People were euphoric. Pain and stiffness went away. Energy increased. Mental clarity and focus sky-rocketed.

Some reported being able to see better.

Hmmm? Wonder why? Guess what’s located in your head along with your brain?

Your eyes.

Anyway, these long-life neck exercises are going to be made available exclusively for Members of the Matt Furey Inner Circle – aka Furey Faithful, very soon.

Not only that, those who enroll will get access to a treasure-trove of information that is already on the site – AND over the next 12 months, you’re going to be flat-out flabbergasted about how much NEW material I’m practically giving away.

My friend, what I’m coming out with is information you don’t want to learn second-hand or third-hand. You’ll want to get this straight from the horse’s (er, Zen Master’s) mouth.

Make sure you go to my new site and see all the Off-the-charts health, fitness and longevity information that you’re going to get when you’re a member.

Over the next 12 months, the ONLY people who will get access to this information will be members of the Matt Furey Inner Circle. I suggest you jump on board NOW because this information is almost too good to believe.

Yours,

Matt “Coach” Furey

P.S. For a limited time, everyone who enrolls will be receive a bonus seminar, LIVE and in person, wherein I teach you The Next Level of Bodyweight Calisthenics.

7 Years of Retirement

Monday, September 8th, 2014

For the past seven years, I’ve been involved in what I like to call an unannounced ‘meditative’ retirement.

Beginning with a detached retina in August of 2007, which required surgery, I gradually cut waaaay back on my involvement in business and began to look at life with a different set of eyes.

I had many valid reasons to do so. Here they are:

1. Taking time off was good for my overall health. Instead of my first priority being everyone else – which is NOT what I taught my students – I really did put myself first. Instead of beginning the day with a race to send out an email or create a new product – I began it with my own training. Instead of feeling “I must do this” and “I must do that” – I allowed myself to relax.

“I must do nothing,” I said to myself, and I challenged myself to remain happy and have peace of mind even if all I did was stretch and breathe.

Sounds a bit odd, I know, but that’s where I was. Instead of thinking you can only be happy when you’re busy, busy, busy – instead of thinking that you can only be happy when you’re constantly pressing the envelope – I did the opposite. I challenged myself to be happy when I did almost nothing but study and train in other areas of interest.

2. Taking time off allowed me to spend more with my wife and children. I often said to myself, “If I have time to give everyone else some of my wisdom (or whizdum) – I better make sure I pass the grand majority of it on to my son and daughter.” Yes, this is still a work in progress – but at least my children have a decent understanding of the “mental game.”

3. Although not initially by conscious esign, taking time off gave me the space to be with my Mother, who was saying a “long goodbye” with the onset of Alzheimers. Two years prior to her passing, my Father and I moved her to a home where she could receive full-time care. And my Dad, just like a young boy who began courting, would call me everyday and ask if I’d drive him to see his lady. I’m happy to say that 90% of the time I was able to do so.

It was rough at times. It’s not easy going to see the Mother who gave you birth, who gradually loses yet another chunk of her brain. First she could no longer cook or clean; then could no longer bathe herself; then could no longer get dressed or comb her hair; then could no longer walk; then could no longer remember your name; then could no longer feed herself; then could no longer do much of anything but sit and wait.

I’m thankful that the ONLY thing my Mother never forgot was her SMILE. Even after she’d taken her final breath and her heart was done beating, a positive expression was still upon her face.

For well over 18 months, I’ve been telling myself that “I’m coming back.” Why? Because I see people who are not only totally out of shape – but they’re being given the exact opposite approach and advice of what I know and believe is a much better way.

The more I see all the misinformation out there, the more I say to myself, “Fure-cat, you gotta come back and start teaching fitness again – but do it with ALL the new information you have. Do it in a way that gives people far more than ripped muscles. Give them the quiet, calm strength they want and need.”

Coming back sort of started with the release of Theatre of the Mind in February – but even with that – I was still straddling two whirlds. One of meditative retirement – the other of being fully engaged teaching health and longevity exercises.

I realized over the summer that I was NEVER really going to be OUT of my CAVE until I began teaching all I’ve learned and studied over the past seven years.

I said to myself, “There’s a lot more to Combat Conditioning than the physical exercises. You don’t do any of the exercises in your book the way you used to do them. And they’re much more powerful and effective the way you do them now. Plus you’ve got a TON that you’ve NEVER taught anyone. Especially the stuff you learned in China. Start putting it out there.”

Last night the transition from “meditative retirement” to being back into teaching health, longevity and fitness was carved upon the walls of my cave when my all-new site went live.

Over the next 12 months, all my Members are going to be continually in AWE of all the wonders they’re going to behold in their minds and bodies.

Without a shred of doubt or uncertainty, I can honestly say, if you’re not a Member – you’re going to miss out in a big way. Missing what I’m now beginnng to teach, as well as what I’ve already taught – could very well represent one of the biggest missed opportunities of your lifetime.

If you want health, if you want longevity, if you want a body that’s free of aches and pain, if you want peace of mind through movement – then you owe it to yourself to become a part of the Matt Furey Inner Circle right NOW.

Go get the details on this extraordinary offer right quick. You’ll be forever grateful you did.

Yours,

Matt “Coach” Furey

P.S. Oh yeah, so you know, I was up early this morning and training whilst most of the country slept. I took care of myself first – just as I’m advising you to do.
