Politically Incorrect Musings
on Health, Fitness and Success
September 9th, 2014
This morning I was up before the sun rose, out in nature, taking in fresh air and quietude.
Once I felt grounded and focused, I began to work on my neck – doing a series of 9 exercises that get your brain, body and nervous system functioning at a high level.
By the way, if you’re into “mind power” as well as improved functioning of your brain – I highly recommend you begin training your neck on a daily basis.
Previously, the only way I taught my students to train their necks was the bridging exercises in Combat Conditioning. And it’s still a valid way to train your neck. I still bridge and teach it to my clients.
At the same time, I now START my day with neck exercises that I learned in China several years ago.
When I first learned them I compared them to bridging and discounted them.
That was a big mistake because this series of neck exercises is not just about building a bigger, stronger neck.
These neck exercises are part of a longevity training program.
Longevity?
Yes, you got that right.
Here’s the story: In China, the tortoise is revered because it lives such a long life.
And why does it live so long?
Well, the Chinese say the tortoise lives a long life because it’s always moving its neck.
Let’s consider the above statement for a second and apply it to the human body.
Is there anything from the ‘neck up’ that is ‘sort of’ important to our health and well being?
Duh.
Okay, tell me what’s so important.
The thyroid, pineal and pituituary glands for starters. These have a lot to do with hormone secretions for the entire endocrine system – including metabolism, sleep, creativity and higher awareness. Then there’s the brain stem – which is more than a little important. And of course, there’s the brain itself.
Alright, in addition to the tortoise moving his neck – there are three other things about the tortoise that are significant to living
a long life.
First, the tortoise moves slowly. He is not frantically hurrying everywhere he goes.
Second, the tortoise takes time to practice stillness.
Third, the tortoise has protection. If another creature attacks, the tortoise can retreat into his shell and hang out until the attack subsides.
Last weekend, when I conducted a private training with my Chi Kung group, we began each day with long-life neck exercises that are done slowly while focusing on your breathing.
The results were off the chain.
People were euphoric. Pain and stiffness went away. Energy increased. Mental clarity and focus sky-rocketed.
Some reported being able to see better.
Hmmm? Wonder why? Guess what’s located in your head along with your brain?
Your eyes.
Anyway, these long-life neck exercises are going to be made available exclusively for Members of the Matt Furey Inner Circle – aka Furey Faithful, very soon.
Not only that, those who enroll will get access to a treasure-trove of information that is already on the site – AND over the next 12 months, you’re going to be flat-out flabbergasted about how much NEW material I’m practically giving away.
My friend, what I’m coming out with is information you don’t want to learn second-hand or third-hand. You’ll want to get this straight from the horse’s (er, Zen Master’s) mouth.
Make sure you go to my new site and see all the Off-the-charts health, fitness and longevity information that you’re going to get when you’re a member.
Over the next 12 months, the ONLY people who will get access to this information will be members of the Matt Furey Inner Circle. I suggest you jump on board NOW because this information is almost too good to believe.
Yours,
Matt “Coach” Furey
P.S. For a limited time, everyone who enrolls will be receive a bonus seminar, LIVE and in person, wherein I teach you The Next Level of Bodyweight Calisthenics.

For the past seven years, I’ve been involved in what I like to call an unannounced ‘meditative’ retirement.
Beginning with a detached retina in August of 2007, which required surgery, I gradually cut waaaay back on my involvement in business and began to look at life with a different set of eyes.
I had many valid reasons to do so. Here they are:
1. Taking time off was good for my overall health. Instead of my first priority being everyone else – which is NOT what I taught my students – I really did put myself first. Instead of beginning the day with a race to send out an email or create a new product – I began it with my own training. Instead of feeling “I must do this” and “I must do that” – I allowed myself to relax.
“I must do nothing,” I said to myself, and I challenged myself to remain happy and have peace of mind even if all I did was stretch and breathe.
Sounds a bit odd, I know, but that’s where I was. Instead of thinking you can only be happy when you’re busy, busy, busy – instead of thinking that you can only be happy when you’re constantly pressing the envelope – I did the opposite. I challenged myself to be happy when I did almost nothing but study and train in other areas of interest.
2. Taking time off allowed me to spend more with my wife and children. I often said to myself, “If I have time to give everyone else some of my wisdom (or whizdum) – I better make sure I pass the grand majority of it on to my son and daughter.” Yes, this is still a work in progress – but at least my children have a decent understanding of the “mental game.”
3. Although not initially by conscious esign, taking time off gave me the space to be with my Mother, who was saying a “long goodbye” with the onset of Alzheimers. Two years prior to her passing, my Father and I moved her to a home where she could receive full-time care. And my Dad, just like a young boy who began courting, would call me everyday and ask if I’d drive him to see his lady. I’m happy to say that 90% of the time I was able to do so.
It was rough at times. It’s not easy going to see the Mother who gave you birth, who gradually loses yet another chunk of her brain. First she could no longer cook or clean; then could no longer bathe herself; then could no longer get dressed or comb her hair; then could no longer walk; then could no longer remember your name; then could no longer feed herself; then could no longer do much of anything but sit and wait.
I’m thankful that the ONLY thing my Mother never forgot was her SMILE. Even after she’d taken her final breath and her heart was done beating, a positive expression was still upon her face.
For well over 18 months, I’ve been telling myself that “I’m coming back.” Why? Because I see people who are not only totally out of shape – but they’re being given the exact opposite approach and advice of what I know and believe is a much better way.
The more I see all the misinformation out there, the more I say to myself, “Fure-cat, you gotta come back and start teaching fitness again – but do it with ALL the new information you have. Do it in a way that gives people far more than ripped muscles. Give them the quiet, calm strength they want and need.”
Coming back sort of started with the release of Theatre of the Mind in February – but even with that – I was still straddling two whirlds. One of meditative retirement – the other of being fully engaged teaching health and longevity exercises.
I realized over the summer that I was NEVER really going to be OUT of my CAVE until I began teaching all I’ve learned and studied over the past seven years.
I said to myself, “There’s a lot more to Combat Conditioning than the physical exercises. You don’t do any of the exercises in your book the way you used to do them. And they’re much more powerful and effective the way you do them now. Plus you’ve got a TON that you’ve NEVER taught anyone. Especially the stuff you learned in China. Start putting it out there.”
Last night the transition from “meditative retirement” to being back into teaching health, longevity and fitness was carved upon the walls of my cave when my all-new site went live.
Over the next 12 months, all my Members are going to be continually in AWE of all the wonders they’re going to behold in their minds and bodies.
Without a shred of doubt or uncertainty, I can honestly say, if you’re not a Member – you’re going to miss out in a big way. Missing what I’m now beginnng to teach, as well as what I’ve already taught – could very well represent one of the biggest missed opportunities of your lifetime.
If you want health, if you want longevity, if you want a body that’s free of aches and pain, if you want peace of mind through movement – then you owe it to yourself to become a part of the Matt Furey Inner Circle right NOW.
Go get the details on this extraordinary offer right quick. You’ll be forever grateful you did.
Yours,
Matt “Coach” Furey
P.S. Oh yeah, so you know, I was up early this morning and training whilst most of the country slept. I took care of myself first – just as I’m advising you to do.

There are two kinds of people who enter a room: those who brighten it with their positive vibration and those who darken it with their negativity.
Make no mistake about it – you’re one or the other.
Some people brighten the room a tad more than it was, others darken it a smidgeon. Some people really light it up in a big way while others leave the room infested with sludge.
Every morning when you open your eyes, you’re either moving in a positive direction toward positive goals – or you’re going downhill, usually toward goals someone else chooses for you.
There are many goals you can choose for yourself – and just as many you can let others give to you. Being happy, being vitally alive and having a glow that lights up a room, almost always comes from having a goal that YOU CHOOSE. Conversely, being down, feeling depressed, is usually accompanied by the sense that you’re not in control of your life or your destiny.
This is precisely why physical exercise is so helpful to people who’ve got the blues or who want MORE out of LIFE. For once, the person is doing something he or she knows can be controlled.
You can set a goal to get into the best shape of your life.
You can start your day out with a BANG.
Instead of sleeping in and hitting the snooze button over and over – you get up 30 minutes earlier than you normally would, and you train your physical body and your consciousness as one unit.
This means you tune into your breathing. You follow your inhale and your exhale. You breathe full and deep – and you let it out.
The deep breathing alone will raise your vibration.
The great “Farmer” Burns said, “Deep breathing alone has made many a weak man strong and many a sick man well.”
How true. And when you combine deep breathing with the exercises I teach, it will also make you more energetic, more flexible, happier and more alive.
For the past 15 years I’ve been teaching a powerful and extraordinary way to breathe deeper and get fitter through my best-selling book and DVDs on Combat Conditioning.
And starting NOW, over the next 12 months, all my online students can “go where no man has gone before” – to quote Star Trek.
Over the next year I’m presenting new videos with my latest teachings on health, fitness, longevity, strength and flexibility.
What I’m going to be presenting over the next year is going to make you the type of person who LIGHTS up a room – every day of your life.
You’ll light it up because you’re physically fit as well as energetically balanced. You’ll light it up because you’ve purged the stress and negativity from your system and rekindled the flow that makes life worth living.
Come join me over the next year. It’s going to be an incredible ride.
Whether your goal is weight loss, stress reduction, increased strength, flexibility or endurance – I’ve got a LOT for you – and it’s going to get even better with each passing day.
Come train with me, my friend. You’ll be ecstatic you did.

Unless you’ve been in a cave for your entire existence, you’ve most likely heard the phrase, “You’re only as strong as your weakest link.”
Truism.
Yet, have you ever taken the time to consider what YOUR weakest link truly is?
Most people never do because they’re so broken down and beat up, so tired, weak and frazzled, that they can only think of the reality of their whole body being in ruins.
Not that long ago a friend sent me an email containing real photos of people shopping at a huge chain store. I bet you can guess the name of it. This company employs millions of people worldwide – and the number from China alone probably supasses most countries on earth.
Anyway, to say these people could use a change in diet as well as exercise habits would be to state the obvious. These peoples’ bodies appear to be filled with NOTHING but weak links – yet, even within their corpulent carcasses, their is an inner strength to be found.
Once this INNER STRENGTH is found, a person can almost always reverse the negative current in his or her life.
Right now I’m working with a man who weighed 350 pounds when I saw him in late May. He’s already down to 320. He’s got a good chunk to go – but the key is he’s improving a little bit each day.
First and foremost, he can breathe again. Not that long ago he was out of breath walking across the room.
Second, he’s able to move without pain. At first his knees, lower back and shoulders ached. Now they don’t.
Third, he’s doing Combat Conditioning exercises in ways I’ve not yet taught to anyone other than private clients or to members of the Matt Furey Inner Circle.
This client doesn’t need EXTREME exercise to get fit. Neither does the majority of the whirld.
The basics are still the grand champions of exercise and they always will be. Even so, the basics are not basic. There is a depth and breadth to the basics that the average person will never know.
You can look at the ocean and think, “Is that all there is? It’s just water. A giant ship with it’s heavy anchor looks much more impressive.”
Okay, the ship may look impressive. It’s harder than water. It floats. It moves. It can do all sorts of amazing things including housing people, airplanes, life rafts and helicopters.
But at the end of the day, there are plenty of ships at the bottom of that ocean, swallowed whole and sunken. Once filled with enormous pride, these ships are now nothing of importance.
This is part of the reason that programs like tai chi, yoga and the bodweight calisthenics found in Combat Conditioning work so well. They’re basic. They’re natural. And they’re fluid as well as DEEP.
You can never get too good at them. There’s always more.
You’ll find what I’m talking about here in the Matt Furey Inner Circle – and a whole lot more.
Come join us – and be amazed.
Lots to tell you about it in the day’s ahead – but for now, I’d jump in and start swimming – while keeping in mind that the water you’re treading in is still just the surface.
Best,
Matt Furey

If you’ve always had a dream of writing a book and selling a ton of copies – then my elite coaching program may be the best news you’ve heard in a long time.
Back when I was in college, I knew I wanted to write books and be paid royally for them. But I floundered about for years because I had no true direction toward this goal and no one to guide me.
I finally had a breakthrough 18 years ago when I wrote and published my first book. It did okay but not as well as I would have liked.
I kept plugging away, though, and my income and lifestyle-freedom rose dramatically when I figured out a number of secrets that virtually guaranteed me a best-seller, every time I followed what came to be known as The Furey Formula.
Here’s a quick list of SOME of my best-selling products:
Combat Conditioning
Combat Abs
Gama Fitness
Carpal Tunnel Fix
Combat Stretching
101 Ways to Magnetize Money
The Unbeatable Man
Expect to Win – Hate to Lose
Theatre of the Mind
Since “cracking the code” I’ve not only written and created many best-selling books and programs, as well as being published by Nightingale-Conant, but I’ve helped hundreds of others create their first book, DVD, course, program, seminar, coaching program … and much more.
And now I’m willing to help you, one-on-one, achieve your goals, too. How’s that sound? Do you have the vision?
If so, take your first step forward. Click here and fill out the questionnaire I have set up for you.

The other night I walked into our garage gym to observe my son, Frank, working out in between rounds of studying for final exams.
He was sweating.
Noting that he must have been doing something to produce this sweat (not really, it’s Florida, ya know), I asked him what he was doing.
“Crunches,” he replied.
“Crunches? Are you shitting me? That’s the worst exercise you can possibly do for your abs. It’s an isolation exercise and isolation exercises are almost always worthless in comparison to compound movements.”
“Well, why didn’t you explain it to me like that before?” Frank asked.
“Because I didn’t think I would need to. You have me guiding you through the right exercises that involve your abs in every movement. I assumed you’d understand.”
I proceeded to explain in further detail why crunches are worthless – unless, of course, you’re severely injured and this is all you can do without aggravating your injury.
Other than that, leave the “pretty” exercises alone and bust your hump with exercises that hit everything from head to toe – including your abs, even when they’re not the primary focus.
Want to see how this is done? Want to get insider information on how I’m training my 13 year old son in the ways of Combat Conditioning – and much, much more?
Well, watch the video I have on my member’s site. You’ll see Frank at the very end of the clip, when he was only six.
And once you’re a member of the Matt Furey Inner Circle, you’ll see plenty of clips of my son training, with me guiding him. And we’re adding more and more each month.
Go check it out NOW and become a member.
Best,

10 years ago today, my daughter, Faith, was born.
Although it’s a Chinese tradition to say your child is “ugly” when born – the doctor must not have understood this custom. He looked at my daughter, clipped the chord and said, “Hmm, good looking little girl.”
Yes, that was 10 years ago.
And I received the greatest birthday gift a father can ask for: a daughter who is born on HIS birthday.
Wow. How do you pull that off? It’s much harder than a hole in one – no puns intended, hehe.
My daughter is a whirlwind of activity, practicing ballet and tap dancing, swimming, playing the piano and singing. And to top all of that off, she works out hard at home, doing bodyweight exercises.
I spoke to hear last night about making some video clips of her working out – and putting them up in the Matt Furey Inner Circle. I think she’s agreeable to this idea, but we’ll have to see after she polishes off her cupcakes and such today.
As for my son, Frank, he’s totally game. In fact, last night we put up three new clips of him working out.
Last week I told you how he wants to do some weight lifting, to get bigger and stronger. Yes, he likes bodyweight exercises – but he wants to look cool, for now – so I cannot deny him such a thing.
And if I leave him on his own, left to follow all the dingbats and dumb-dumbs in the gyms and weight rooms, I’m afraid he’ll start looking like a bloated freak instead of a functional athlete.
So I’m doing something I never thought I’d be doing. I’m showing my son how to lift weights and other “stuff” to create functional strength, explosive power and speed.
In terms of stuff – I mean heavy objects – weights, clubs, chains and so
on.
There will be NO exercises where he sits on a machine – except one – or lies on a machine. He’ll be on his feet. And if he’s lying down – he’s doing something rigorously hard that is functional.
You can view the video clips we have up NOW by enrolling in the Matt Furey Inner Circle.
Inside this exclusive member’s only site – you’ll find thousands and thousands of dollars worth of products that will keep you reading and watching and listening for days, weeks and months.
And with my son – and soon to be my daughter – on board – it’s going to have a plethora of information on how to train your son
and/or daughter to become studs and studettes.
Check it out now – while this current special is still going. You have less than 48 hours to jump in.
Do it NOW, my friend. You’ll be glad you did.
Seize the Day,
Matt Furey
P.S. I also have some “mental game – Theatre of the Mind” stuff in the member’s site. All around – you won’t find a place with more essential and useful information. Enroll NOW.

Some months back I told you about the ONE exercise I did with a barbell set when I was 13 years old.
Every other day for an entire summer, I did this ONE exercise and totally reshaped my body. People were in awe at the change in me.
I go into great detail about this exercise in the Matt Furey Inner Circle (aka Furey Faithful) – via video – and the reviews have been huge.
In fact, in the video I show you how to do this same exercise with a barbell as well as other weighted apparatus.
Well, guess what? My son is currently 13 years old – just like I was a few moons ago, and he wants to get bigger and stronger and faster. And he wants to lift weights.
So this put me into a pickle. Do I insist that he do things the way I currently do them? Or do I help him find his own path – with my expert guidance?
Afterall, I taught weight lifting, Olympic lifting, weight training and much more to my clients in my personal training business for many, many years. Eddie Baran, for example, hired me to train himself and his twin brother. And both of them thought I went totally nuts when I drop the weights in flavor of body weight exercises.
Well, I’m about to do a flip-flop on you.
Personally, I do many things as part of my training.
I practice a lot of chi kung (qi gong).
I do bodyweight calistenics.
I do sprints.
I practice martial arts.
I walk.
I meditate and do Theatre of the Mind.
And I train my son to become the best athlete he can be.
At present I’m giving him a combination-attack of free weights and bodyweight exercises.
I’m very sports specific with much of what I teach him.
There are no exercises, for example, done lying down on a bench. Or seated on a contraption (with one exception).
I believe that machines, for the most part, are nothing more than marketing gimmicks sold to people who are too unathletic or too injury prone to learn how to train the right way. And so, instead of getting a set of relatively inexpensive equipment, the gym owners and athletic departments get suckered into spending tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It’s an absolute crock – and the American people fell for it.
As Karl Gotch once told me, “Machines are for rehab.”
Well, I guess most people are in rehab mode whether they realize it or not.
Anyway, I’ve been taking my son to the gym where we’re surrounded by people “hogging” the machines, benches and so on.
The workout I put my son through is over in about 30 minutes – and during this time, he noted, most of the people in the gym are still on the same piece of equipment.
Wow. Great insight.
We’ve gone through over a dozen exercises and his ass is kicked.
He’s pumped.
He’s getting the rush I once got.
He feels he’s getting stronger (and by the way, I do NOT let him wear headphones are earplugs when he trains) – and he is.
Again, his routine is a combination of weights and body weight exercises – and I’m going to start letting the cat out of the bag on what he’s doing, bit by bit. You’ll get to see his form improve as well as his strength.
And you’ll get to watch it on video and read about his routine on The Matt Furey Inner Circle member’s site.
You’re going to love watching his transformation.
Moreover, you’re going to love the thousands of dollars of content already up on the member’s site.
All for the ridiculously low amount of $97 for the entire year.
Everything is at your fingertips – at your command – digitally – right now.
Remember, there will be regular updates with the exercises I’m having my son do – and you’re going to learn a lot.
Make sure you enroll NOW if you’re not yet a member. The current fee is going to go up in the near future – so make sure you jump on board right quick.
In fact, this current offer is only available for the next three days – or until I feel I’ve reached a maximum number of members for the time being. Whichever comes first.
So jump on this, my friend. NOW.
Go to the Matt Furey Inner Circle and enroll in this “from the ground-up program.”
Best,
Matt Furey
P.S. The first clip of my son will be going up within the next 48 hours. Look for it.

March 8th, 2014
The other day a good friend and long-time practitioner of Combat Conditioning asked my why I’m so big on Chi Kung.
There are many reasons, but perhaps the most sensible and easiest to understand is this: there’s only so much you can do physically before your body breaks down. And when it breaks down – it breaks down HARD.
From the NFL running back to the big league pitcher to the professional boxer, hard-style martial artist, amateur wrestler or weight lifting or dancing enthusiast, there will come a point in time when your body is so racked with pain that only the moronic will continue regardless.
Whether you’re Derek Jeter, Kobe Bryant, Muhammad Ali or Dan Gable – whether or not you’re considered a “god” in your sport or martial art – eventually Nature will force you out of the game.
Before that happens – though – you could add years to your game and quite possibly retire from it relatively unscathed – if you knew and practiced Combat Chi Kung.
Fact: at nearly 51 years of age I can still kick butt in many ways. With very little training I threw a fastball close to 70 mph this past fall. I can still get on the mat and crush – and my skills continue to advance without even working on the physical.
That’s right. I’ve improved the physical while working on the energetic. Earlier in my life I stopped all the hard, mostly physical exercise and replaced it with Chi Kung, most of which was taught to me in China.
As a result I have a body that is loose, quick, powerful and flexible. This is not something most 40+ athletes can say. Many are so stiff they get injured while sleeping or while engaged in pick-up games.
There’s something wrong with this picture.
Personally, I believe that hard style exercise is good till around the age of 40. And after that, if you don’t heed this message, you will age faster and become less functional with each passing year.
Why?
Because the hard exercise depletes your body of energy. You don’t notice it when you’re younger – but at some point it’s pretty obvious. Unless you choose to block reality.
Losing energy and function is not something that happens with Combat Chi Kung. You continue to gain – even in your 50’s, 60’s and beyond.
That’s why I’m so excited about my Combat Chi Kung Seminar. And it’s why I sincerely hope you can make it.
Always remember that water wears away rock. Water is supposedly gentler – but it carries tremendous force. And when you combine breath (air) with water, you can blow down steel bridges, like we saw with Hurricane Katrina.
Best,
Matt Furey

A quick heads-up.
I’m holding a Combat Chi Kung™ Seminar later this month and although many people are confirmed via “word-of-mouth” – I still have some seats remaining – so I’m letting you know about it as well.
This event has very limited seating. Only 36 people MAX.
If you want to go way beyond Combat Conditioning and all the other courses I’ve previously taught, if you want to train your “spirit” – not just your body – if you want to develop INTERNAL POWER – then this event is definitely for YOU.
Jump on this NOW, my friend, as the remaining seats won’t last long.
Best,
Matt Furey
