Politically Incorrect Musings
on Health, Fitness and Success
February 5th, 2015
Here’s something that’ll rattle a few skulls.
A friend who likes my deliberate misspellingz – sent me a document about when English spelling became standardized.
What?
Wasn’t it always what it is today?
Nope.
It wasn’t until 1755 when Samuel Johnson published the Dictionary of the English Language – thereby giving teachers something else to do. Not only could they have classes on proper spelling, but when it came time to read what you’ve written, they had the power to punish for “errors” having nothing to do with the content of what you wrote.
Whey to go, Samuel Johnson. Er, way to go. Uh, or is it … weigh to go.
Now we have a great way to prove someone’s lack of intellect.
“If you can’t spell – you’re stupid.”
Really?
You’d be amazed to know that some of the brightest minds EVER – either had trouble spelling – or were a bit avante garde –
making their lack of standardized spelling a hallmark of their whit and whizdom.
Believe me, it taketh guts to stand on your own and demand that your whey is the highweigh.
Hopefully some of you can now breathe a bit easier as others reading this message get livid with rage. How dare I contradict
260 years of being right all the time?
Well, as Rodney Dangerfield would say, “Who died and made you pope of this dump?” Or, who decided that Samuel Johnson
was the decider?
Anyway, this leads me to the central point of today’s lesson – and that is… Perfectionism is Bad Medicine.
Really, it is.
Now, I’m not saying that it’s no good to be perfect, if you can. What I’m saying is “don’t strive for perfection.” If you do, you’re going to be uptight, tense and full of frustration almost all the time.
If you’re striving for perfection – you miss the value of your mistakes.
You fail to learn from them because “they’re bad.”
Not at all. Mistakes are nothing but corrective feedback that lead you to a better way of doing what you’re working on.
Each morning when I practice Tai Chi – I have moments where I’m thrilled with how well I execute a technique. But most everything I do can be a lot better. Yes, I make mistakes every day I train – and when I work on correcting them, I get better, and that’s all that matters.
Making small incremental improvements each day is powerful, healing medicine. Even if the improvment is only a nanometer better.
If, on the other hand, I try NOT to make any mistakes, then that’s the biggest mistake of all. It’ll cause me to make more.
When you try too hard to be precise, you end up failing to enjoy
what you’re doing.
If you have something to say – just say it.
If you have something to write – just write it.
Something to do – just do it.
Then review what you did – and make it better next time. Not by trying to be perfect, but by being AWARE of what you’re doing as you’re doing it. In short, relax and pay attention – nothing more – and you’ll get better fast.
Again, the analogy of a baby.
Suppose when a baby is learning to walk, we continually correct her. “Nope Jenny, you need to stay balanced. Don’t move too fast too soon. Put one foot down then the other. Keep your head straight, etc. etc.”
Sounds ridiculous, but the baby does an allright job figuring out this walking thing. On her own she self-corrects.
Is she trying to be pefect? No. She’s just working on walking and intuitively making adjustments until she’s got it.
As for writing, when you’ve got something to say – just write what’s on your mind. When you’re done, you can look it over and make edits. Not before.
At that point you can decide, am I going to leaf these misspellingz hear – or am I going to correckt them?
Oh yes, I’m leafing all the mistakes in the foregoing sentence as iz.
Same for this won.
Butt, when I’m putting a book together, that might be the time to fix the mistakes. Especially if Samuel Johnson is grading me.
So make your mistakes – stay neural about them. Relax and breathe and stay aware as you continue to practice. That’s powerful medicine, my friend. And a whole lot easier to swallow than perfectionism.
Yours,
Matt Furey

Listen to the personal trainers and fitness experts talk. It’s all about the muscles, the muscles and the muscles.
How big are your guns? How ripped are your abs?
How massive are your pecs?
Let me tell you what you get when your focus is primarily on the muscles: a body that is MORE injury prone than ever before. A body that is stiff, inflexible and racked with pain.
Why? Because critical areas of the body were totally neglected – and these areas happen to connect your muscles to your bones.
Yes, I’m talking about your tendons.
We’ve been sold a bill of goods on big muscles.
The size of a muscle or how “ripped” it is has absolutely NOTHING to do with how strong, how fast, how flexible or how explosive you are.
Proof of this can be readily seen by watching a deer leap an eight-foot fence without a warm-up.
How massive are the legs of a deer?
The deer’s legs appear to be little more than tendon and bone. Sure, there’s muscle – but it’s not HUGE and or ripped.
If size of your leg muscles was the key to leaping ability, then Clydesdales and Rhinos would be leaping tall buildings in a single bound.
Believe me, due to genetics, I have legs that are bigger than the norm. Yet, I’d trade my legs in for a skinnier pair if it helped me leap eight-foot fences with ease.
I’m all about function. What can you do with your body?
And if you want to realize the incredible strength, power and explosiveness that’s possible for you, you start focusing on training your tendons at least as much as your muscles.
Not only that, but if you look at where most of a person’s pain and or injuries are located, you’ll find the joints – where the tendons connect muscle to bone, to be the main areas.
For quick sake, here’s a list of primary pain centers:
1. Wrists and hands
2. Ankles and feet
3. Shoulders
4. Lower back – sacrum, pelvis
5. Knees
6. Elbows
7. Neck
8. Hips
9. Upper back – including thoracic vertebrae and scap
Make a note: None of the above are muscle groups – yet, if you’ll look at your own history of injuries or pain, chances are excellent that the majority of your challenges are located in these areas.
This is where my Combat Conditioning 2.0 can be music – not only to your ears – but to your body.
As a member of the Furey Faithful, I give you the exercises – online – immediately – that help you get your body – and your life back.
It’s true. When your body is racked with pain – you feel like your life is being stolen from you. Time is not only taken away – but so are the activities you love.
But when you feel like you’re grabbing control of your body once again – and have control – then you get your life back.
The ability to move around without pain is your birthright. It’s not natural to move around like the Tin Man.
It’s perfectly natural to move with ease – with naturalease.
And that’s what the NEW exercises I teach begin to do for you.
My Combat Conditioning 2.0 exercises open up your joints – pushing the turbid and sluggish energy out.
Once the sluggish energy is purged from the joints, new, fresh, positively vital energy can move through your body.
This new energy can make you feel like a new man or woman.
You’ll definitely feel younger and more energetic – and who doesn’t want that?
As a man once told me, “Everyone wants to get into heaven – but no one wants to die.”
So true.
Why not make your heaven on earth, with your body serving as a living temple of free-flowing vitality and energy?
Makes sense to me.
You?
If so, come join me in the Furey Faithful.
You’ll be glad you did.
Yours,
Coach Furey
P.S. As part of the Furey Faithful, you’ll receive private “members only” emails from me each week – as well as videos, audios and special reports that are “for your eyes only.” There’s literally a gold mine of information already up on the member’s site – and more is being added each and every month. Come train with me – online – everyday – anytime of the day – no matter where you live in this great whirld of ours.

Last night I dreamt about Master Shi, an 86-year old Chinese internal martial arts master who looked and moved like he was 36.
He was in a park in China, training with a bunch of grapplers, wrestlers, boxers and other martial artists.
Master Shi was teaching these people how they could dramatically improve their “game” by incorporating circular movements, s-like movements, relaxation, deep breathing and something he called internal power.
Toward the end of the training, Master Shi allowed each person in the group to come at him, and before each person knew what happened, he was saying to himself, “How the hell did he do that?”
Click here to read the rest of the story…
and to find out about the seminar I’m having on February 28 in Tampa, Florida, on this very topic.

Coach Matt Furey
P.S. It’s been six years since I held a seminar on this subject. If you have any interest in wrestling, grappling, Tai chi or internal martial arts – this is a “must-go event.“

About 23 years ago I outlined a message on a yellow pad, grabbed an audio recorder, popped a cassette tape into, hit record and began talking.
The subject: Relax and Win.
I spoke about how important the art of relaxation truly is – and how the BEST athletes are usually the most relaxed.
“Joe Cool” Montana was the perfect example I knew of at the time in the whirld of sports. Even under grueling pressure, his eyes never wavered – his body showed no sign of nervous tension.
In my study of Internal martial arts, tension is the enemy. As soon as you have tension, you can be defeated.
A couple weeks ago, John, an avid exerciser attended one of my trainings. He listened with rapt attention as I spoke about the importance of relaxing as you move – a concept totally foreign to him.
Even though it sounded impossible, John decided to give it a go on his own.
The next day he told me that he swam twice as far as his previous best. He was shocked.
He tried it again a day later and broke his previous record again.
Thinking this cannot be the case with all activities, John tried it with his running.
Same type of result.
He could run faster, longer – and easier than ever before.
We spoke on the phone yesterday. He’s still in shock – but is NOW totally sold on this approach.
“You know, at first it makes no sense. How can you be relaxed and move faster and with more energy?” he said.
“Well, look at the young child,” I replied. “He or she comes into the whirld and runs circles around adults. No one can keep up. The child is totally relaxed while moving. The adult isn’t. Thing is the child came into being in a relaxed state – no one ever taught him to relax. Then he got it trained out of him and spends the rest of his life, if so inclined, trying to recapture it.”
“Wow, never thought of it that way,” said John.
Yes, tis true.
And that’s why I’m so big into the 2.0 version of Combat Conditioning, which I teach to members of the Furey Faithful
online.
Instead of doing hundreds of reps of this, that and the other – why not show me you can do one repetition, slowly and with relaxation.
You might think that’s not a challenge.
I’m telling you – IT IS.
Let’s see you take one full minute to do a single Hindu squat – with your back straight – feet straight ahead – and your body relaxed.
That’s 30 seconds down – 30 seconds up.
Is that all?
Not a chance.
When that’s easy for you – I make it even harder.
I suggest you give this challenge – and the others that I teach – some serious attention.
You can do that each and every day – along with me and others from all over the globe.
If you’ll do this, you’ll not only get fitter – but you’ll know what it truly means when I say, “Relax and Win.”
Why?
Because every area of your life improves when you are more at ease, more relaxed than you’ve ever been before.
Yours,
Coach Matt Furey

Nearly 17 years ago I met a doctor at one of my martial arts bootcamps. He would eventually become a top anti-aging specialist, who’s literally on “the immortality edge” of anti-aging medicine. In fact, he wrote a best-seller with those three words in the title – and it put him on stages all over the whirld, speaking to packed houses.
Anyway, at the time we first me, he was a beginner in the style I was teaching (but not a beginner in martial arts) and I felt it my responsibility to protect him from some of the young bucks who had a bit too much adrenaline and testosterone raging in their veins.
This doctor appreciated my concern and over the years, came to see me quite regularly for private instruction.
He ended up attending as well as speaking at many of my events – and both of us thought of one another as friends.
Then we had a disagreement and the friendship ended. Pronto.
Although we exchanged a few pleasantries by email and regular mail over the next six years, we did not speak again until last November, when a very different doctor as well as a very different teacher met at my Flow II seminar.
He was the doctor who was different. I was the different teacher.
Despite all the changes we’d gone through, within minutes we re-established a common ground and became friends once again.
I started taking his new off-the-charts products (especially TA-65). After using it for a week, I called Doc to say, “Oh my God.”
Meanwhile, Doc signed up for my Furey Faithful program, and after getting his first lesson in Chi Kung from me, he had an, “Oh my God” story of his own.
He’d NEVER seen me teach anything close to what he was taught – nor had he EVER gotten results that FELT so good so quickly. From anything he’d ever done.
Recently Doc wrote me the following which he insisted I use as a testimonial for all to see:
“For the past 2 decades I have traveled to the far corners of the Earth
as an anti-aging and regenerative medicine specialist, looking for the
best, most effective and genuine ways to rejuvenate the body. I have
found many wonderful things but my system was missing something
until my old friend and mentor, Matt Furey, casually mentioned he had
found something that was HUGE and was absolutely necessary for
staying young. I did not hesitate. ‘Count me in Matt!’ I said.
I have said those words to Matt many times over years and never ever
regretted it so I knew I would not regret it this time. But I was not prepared
for the quantum leaps, quantum changes and quantum improvements I’ve
made since learning Matt’s new system. Without a shadow of a doubt, his
teachings today go way beyond his earlier seminars, writings and DVDs.
I’m grateful to be getting this knowledge. It’s given me yet another edge
in my personal and professional life.”

Thank goodness it’s Saturday. After enduring Back Friday on Thursday, and in some cases Wednesday, I’m left wondering what we’re teaching our kids.
Really. You can’t wait til Friday anymore to start Black Friday. It’s gotta start early. Gotta start on Thursday – if not earlier.
Can’t wait til 12:00 AM on Friday. No. No. No.
Gotta get it rolling at least a day early.
I think it’s terrible. I think it’s absolutely pathetic.
Thanksgiving is supposed to be a day of gratitude with family and friends. And if you don’t have any of either, it’s a day of rest – a day you can count your blessings.
At least that’s what I thought it was supposed to be.
So let me be blunt.
I’m not a fan of Black Friday on Thursday. I’m not a fan of anyone who can’t shut his online business down on Thanksgiving.
But I’ll tell you what I AM a fan of on Thanksgiving – as well as other holidays. I’m a fan of doing physical things with your family. I’m a fan of going outdoors to play ball. I’m a fan of sitting around to catch up on reading or DVD watching. And I’m a fan of taking time to remember, reminisce and be grateful.
Do I respect those who have things to sell? Yes, of course. I have products to sell, too, and I’ll get to one of them in a moment.
But before I do, I want you to know that I could have sent an email about my new product on Wednesday, or Thursday and/or on Black Friday.
I didn’t. And the reason I didn’t is because I want my children to know that their Dad doesn’t work on Thanksgiving or have his mind preoccupied with anything else.
We’re going to spend time together, watching ball games, eating, talking – and working out.
They aren’t going to see me taking phone calls to talk business. Nor will they see me return emails or texts. It’s a day of thanks.
Period.
Okay, now that I’ve got that off my chest, I believe I’ve earned the right to tell you about a product I mentioned to you last week.
It’s called Combat Conditioning for KIDS.
It’s so cool both of my children couldn’t resist going through it, naming the exercises I taught them so long ago.
They loved how I renamed The Royal Court. It’s now called The Kid’s Court {TKC). They like how I made TKC into five fat-burning, muscle-moulding exercises instead of three.
And they’re convinced the new spiral-bound format is PERFECT for setting on the floor as you pump out the exercises. No more having to turn the book over or hold it down with your hand to keep it from closing.
I went to a lot of extra time and expense to make these changes – and they’re going to make a HUGE difference for your kids when they workout each day.
Yes, you can do the exercises with them – but you don’t have to.
Yes, you can supervise them as they train – but chances are you won’t have to do very much of that.
Anyway, the newbie is NOW in stock and I’ve got 100 cartoon-ized card decks left that will also go out as a bonus. After they’re gone, I’m not sure if I’ll re-order.
The good news is you can ORDER NOW from the privacy of your home or on your electronic gadget.
You don’t need to camp out in a parking lot overnight.
But you do need to ACT NOW in order to make sure you get the bonus.
Yours,
Matt “Coach” Furey

Over the past few weeks I’ve been “leaking” information to members of the Furey Faithful about the dietary changes I’ve made “for the better” – and they’ve been HUGE – not just for me – but for those I’ve talked to who are following what I’m doing, with no coaxing from me to do so.
That’s right. I don’t like people who tell me how I should eat – so I do my best to leave everything in neutral when I talk about what someone else should eat.
It’s none of my business.
At the same time, if someone reads what I’m doing – get’s intrigued and interested, and wants to give it a whirl, then by golly, go for it – but remember, I didn’t Tell you, Force you or Compel you to do what you chose to do.
Even so, let me give you some examples of what’s happened to a number of people who’ve decided to follow me…
Tom, 51, chronically fatigued for three years. Nothing he did worked. Fasting, cleansing, nutritional supplements, healers, cat scans, MRIs … you name it, he was still EXHAUSTED.
All the time…
Five days after he read my secret blog for the Furey Faithful, he wrote me to say he finally feels like he’s on the “upswing.” One day later, he again said he was feeling better.
That kind of result is stunning.
And he’d made ZERO posiitve comments about his health for the past three years! Truism.
Pamela dropped 10 pounds and chronic pain she’d been having in your ankles and knees disappeared.
Mark dropped 20 pounds and already looks five years younger.
Michael dropped 10 pounds and is currently still amazed at the crud his body is throwing off.
Will has taken 20 pounds off and is no longer chronically fearful of everything that he thinks might happen in the future, or the now.
Betty, 15 pounds off and far less joint pain with a ton more energy.
And all of the above has taken place within the last 30 days.
Once again, I emphasize, these people are just following what I figured out. I’m not advising them. I’m not their doctor. I’m not a certified food pyramind nutritionist or any other kind of nutritionist.
I’m not recommending paleo – or ketosis – or vegetarianism, raw foodism – breathariansism or faith healing.
If I were to categorize what I’m doing and telling others – it could be classified as eating “nutrient dense” foods.
Fact, you can be on a so-called healthy diet and NOT be getting nutrient dense foods. Most people are making this very mistake.
That’s why Tom was chronically fatigued. Eating all the so-called healthy foods, most of which have no nutrients lead to nothing but fatigue and anguish.
I’m incredibly grateful to the people and resources who’ve helped me figure out the remaining pieces of the dietary jigsaw puzzle – the people who helped me “crack the code.”
If you’re interested in following me – that’s cool, but I’m not promising you anything.
I’m not promising you weight loss of any kind – even though I have inside knowledge about how quickly it can happen once you know what I’m doing.
I’m not promising any kind of health improvement – even though what I’ve read about and proven to be true for MYSELF, is off the charts awesome.
I’m not promising you a CURE of any kind either: nothing physical, psychological, spiritual, emotional or intellectual.
The only thing I’m promising is INFORMATION that has worked for ME – and that many of my clients and coaching members say is working for them, too.
Easily and practically effortlessly.
But I’m not guaranteeing anything for YOU – except the INFO I have that may be totally life-changing. That’s it.
So here’s what I’ve got planned: I’m going to hold a “Weight Loss Without Will Power” teleseminar for all the current members of the Furey Faithful – as well as those who enroll this week.
I’m going to hold this event early next week – and I’m probably going to give you more valuable content in one hour than you’ve read or heard in your entire life on the subject of REAL nutrition and where to get it.
No, this isn’t about supplements, protein powders and so on.
I think once you get this food in your body, your life can and will change – but that’s merely my opinion and I’m not encouraging you in anyway to believe anything I have to say.
Okay, with all of the above in mind, get yourself over to the Furey Faithful and become a member NOW.
The benefits of being a member are increasing by the day. You definitely want to be “on the Inside” with what I’m doing here. So tune in – right away.
Yours,
Coach Furey
